However, this time, apparently they are not making code share alternatives on *A partners who are still flying to Israel. They are offering, with only a few days to decide, either a refund or a flight to Amman, Athens, or Dubai and then you are on your own to get back to Israel.
does anyone have insights on this new and different approach to dealing with getting people home.
of note, and please let’s not make this political, but my friend lives in Israel but still has a US passport - but no status on UA and the original flights were E (not sure which bucket)

UNited has been awful this time around with their re accommodation policy.
Some have been lucky enough to get United to rebook all the way to tlv via Athens and even paying for the ath-tlv leg on Elal.
However I wouldn't count on it.
Elal has been adding lots of flights to and from Athens. Cost is under $300. I would take UA to Athens and pay for the elal connection to make it back home.
PS, Not sure if against forum rules but I'd be happy to assist getting seats on Elal if you can't get any (via waitlisting)
