My wife and I have a Delta flight booked in October from Memphis to Honolulu. We'd like to immediately hop on a Hawaiian Airlines flight to Maui, stay for 3 nights, then fly back to Honolulu and stay for two nights before flying back to Memphis. We do not have the HA flight booked yet.

My concern is, what happens if the Delta flight is delayed and we don't make the HA flight to Maui? Is there any way to "link" the two flights so we could get automatically rebooked? Sorry if that sounds naive, I've never tried done something like this before.

Also, I've read elsewhere that Delta would check our baggage all the way through to Maui. How do we arrange that?
