Hi! I'm planning a weekend trip to San Diego and need some recommendations for a luxury resort on the beach. I don't seem to find any true luxury resorts that are oceanfront or beachfront. Am I missing something? I looked at Alila Marea up in Encinitas but it doesn't seem as luxurious, has a small pool, and mixed reviews on service. Anyone been there? The Aviara resorts are far from the ocean with no ocean view rooms. The Coronado resort has the Beach Village and Shore House which look newer or renovated and seem to have nice villas with great views of the ocean but not sure how service and experience is, also not ultra luxury but they are listed on Virtuoso so maybe that means they are good, or does it? Anyone has experience with them?

That's all I found because other resorts like Fairmont are far from the ocean and accommodations look rather dated. Then there is Rancho Valencia but also no ocean and can't tell how good it would be if it is worth giving up ocean views for it. Thanks for any input on this!
