In theory, while you should not be able to shorten the booking, you could depart early and request to be released from the remainder of your reservation (and receive back the points used to pay for those remaining nights) against paying a penalty fee - have a look at your reservation confirmation, under the section Other Charges there should be an Early Departure Fee mentioned, that would be your penalty should you wish to shorten your stay.
Just had a look at a couple of reservations I have coming up, one points and one paid. The Early Departure Fee is only mentioned in association with the paid reservation and as I read it, it’s payable in addition to forfeiture of what’s already been paid.
It’s not at all clear what would happen if you depart early from a points stay, the penalty for a ‘no show’ is payment of a nights stay at the full rack rate, charged to the card registered with IHG.
