End of the day you may find 2xJ cash fares on other airlines (e.g. AY) to be cheaper than one J fare on QF. And those airlines are probably better in J than QF.

I would not purchase full economy - you are paying 3x the fare for the same seat. I would purchase PE if you are happy to fly in PE and see the very very slight chance of an upgrade as a bonus.

You should look at Amsterdam and Paris as destinations on Qatar, and book a British Airways flight in Business to get to the UK and you can do same day changes for free if your Qatar flight in is delayed. Yes there is a risk but it can be managed, even stay a night in Amsterdam/Paris if you are risk averse before flying to the UK to make sure you don't miss the connection.
Have booked 2 Qatar redemptions in the last 18 months in Business, seem to be more availability than to London
