This isn’t true. My last 3 Italian AirBNB rentals have all had a host of some sort meet/greet us at the property to do a walkabout/explainer tour and to welcome us - Venice, Tuscany, Lake Como. 2 of the 3 asked to see our passports and registered them in person, the 3rd didn’t bother at all. But it’s reasonable to ask if someone will be there to greet them and to handle that exchange in person. I mean, there are a billion AirBNBs out there, find one that works for you.
