The issue with the wildcards in the US is that they can and will bump you through any number of airports in the middle of the country [not just the hubs], resulting in crossing the country for only 80 TPs rather than 140. I generally think it's better to list the hubs, remembering to avoid ORD, DFW, PHX-CLT and PHX-MIA [though I rarely find any decent availability through MIA].
