Brazil doesn't allow YQ surcharges either. Would be interesting to see who, if anyone, tries it there. The Brazilian authorities seem quite keen on fines for things like that. If only NZ authorities were as interested in protecting consumers.
It's sad that they've been doing it for quite a few years and nobody noticed. When I contacted these airlines, they said they were doing the right things. It's a shame. It's also quite unfair to the other airlines that follow the previous ruling. I’ve reported them, but I’m not sure if the NZ Commerce Commission still has the motivation to handle the case as they did before. It may take a long time.
