I'd like to take advantage of this route but there are no connections (bar one a week I think) from LGW back to EDI so I'd rather get a return from say SIN-BKK-SIN and fly back to LHR from SIN. Not the most optimal of routing but LGW is just not feasible from the regions sadly.
The transfer between LHR-LGW or vica versa is relatively painless. There is an in depth thread here in the forum.
As long as you have been booked on a through ticket and have evidence of your well planned journey between the two (I recommend coach) I was told by a BA rep that they will get you on a later flight if you happen to miss the one you were scheduled for because of unforseen circumstances (just as if your connection had been late getting into LHR)
