I'm pleased to see the return of British Airways to BKK. Bangkok as a destination seems to have changed significantly over the years, being far more leisure-orientated now than a business destination, and this has been reflected in BA's presence and capacity in Thailand over the years (e.g. BKK once served as a stopover point for BA's flights to Sydney with the 747 for many years before this was shelved in 2012 and curtailed to LHR-BKK only; later downgraded to the 772, and finally reduced to a seasonal route before being withdrawn completely from LHR). On the plus side, I look forward to seeing BA's livery back in Bangkok after a 4 year hiatus. My hope is that BA can make a success of the route, now being flown from LGW. Interestingly, the 'Simple Flying' article on BA's return to BKK mentions that British Airways hope to make this a year-round route with an increased frequency (up from the seasonal 3 weekly service at launch). Only time will tell of course, but I hope that by moving the route to Gatwick, BA can make it work for them.
