This topic has been discussed on the US board. The moderator may want to consider moving this thread there. Anyway, the general consensus is that US should be safe at least until June 30, 2005. Realizing that you are traveling in July, you may be a bit anxious. However, the US board seems to be very upbeat about US's survival and rightly so, I think. I was one of those that thought US would be gone in the next month or two, but with all those recent positive news, it does look like it may survive longer than just a few more months. Ok, let's back to topic. Most FTers (whether they are US supporter or not) seem to agree that if you have UA-coded, US metal flight, it's safer than a straight US-coded, US metal if US goes down before your flight (that a big if with the ways things are looking). UA will most likely reaccomodate you on another flight if the US metal flight is not available. It will most likely be treated as if it's a UA flight that got cancelled. Hope this helps.
