Have QF status? Can make a difference to availability.
- Getting 1 off QF business class award AU-UK is hard and far from guaranteed.
- Getting 1 off QF upgrades to PE~business class AU-UK is hard and far from guaranteed. Getting 2 off on the same flight a magnitude harder
- Getting 2 off QF business class award AU-UK is very hard and a long way from guaranteed. Say 4 times hard as 1 off.
Need to flexible with origin and destination.
One way or want to return to MEL? If a return book as oneways. No need to be same city pair.
Be aware of the difference between "
classic award" (as chart) and
"classic plus" (dynamic - can be very high)
From posts on Au Freq Flyer paid flight to Asia and then award Asia - UK is a tad easier.
Also consider AF/KML to France (QF ff partner)
And paid flights with 2nd trier airlines,Vietnam Airlines, Chinese airline etc.
