Go to united.com
Search for your preferred itinerary and make sure to select the option 'book with miles'
Partner flight availability is not up to UA, so you may need to adjust and play around, such as changing your departure and return dates.
With all due respect, spending 2 hrs on chat sessions is a waste of your time and the agent's time for general booking inquires. This is not against you specifically, but an overarching criticism, especially the difficulty of people with urgent day of travel issues unable to get a hold of UA (or having to wait a long time).
For all of its defincies (and there are a lot), UA has generally excellent IT/website/app infrastructure to service most customer needs. You could also fire up a general/question here, and I am sure someone would be able to resolve it faster than UA.
