The 2024 Q2 SEC filing shows the 3 789's planned for this year and 8 more next year, which aligns with aircraft lines allocated to AA in the coming year in above link. From prior FT threads, it seemed like DFW-BNE was to be the first to get the new premium heavy 789, which requires 2 to operate daily service. As of now, it's not scheduled on that route through January. Even with only 2, it seems that there would still be potentially equipment swaps in IRROPS where a handful of J passengers will be downgraded, rerouted or refunded so maybe they wait until they have more to reliably keep it on that route.
