How to reserve seats on Cathay Pacific using AA miles?
I'm trying to reserve seats for a ticketed reservation on Cathay Pacific segments I booked using AA miles. American Airlines told me to contact Cathay Pacific. I called them and Cathay Pacific insists that AA has full control over the booking and that they can't get me seats. What should I do? I don't want to be stuck in a middle seat on US to Asia flights. Class of the segments is "X" if that helps.
In decades of award travel, I've never been denied reserving seats. This is a new one. I don't even mind paying, since one segment's going to be over 15 hours; can't imagine getting stuck in a middle seat vs. aisle or window. I always choose aisle seats for long haul travel. And I doubt very much any aisle seats will be available 48 hours from check-in, which is when they told me I could choose seats.
Couldn't even get a human on the phone at Cathay Pacific's customer service number; the phone system isn't recognizing my keypad choices. Strange. I've flown CX before and enjoyed it, but that was on a revenue ticket and I didn't have to deal with the seemingly non-existent Customer Service.
