When it’s not busy this property is amazing. When it gets even moderately busy things fall apart due to minimal staff and training. When it’s really busy with big events it’s really not worth the price.
The challenge is Santa Barbara does not have that many hotel choices. If you want to be loyal to Hyatt then the choices are this property or the Hyatt Place.
If you are going to be brand agnostic, the Hilton a few blocks away is nice, but often more expensive. And there are few other Hilton branded properties, but location wise not as appealing.
Marriott also has a handful, but don’t think anything is better than Mar Monte that is in the same range. There is a Ritz Carlton further up the coast, but also quite a bit more expensive.
And then there is the Four Seasons that has been closed now due to labor disputes. And the new Rosewood, though again very expensive.
Are there other hotels in Santa Barbara that people feel is competitive to the Mar Monte?
