Turkish are currently running a pretty much blanket promotion giving 15% off base fares. There are, of course, T&C attached - but these appear anodyne from a customer perspective. If you get the email, you get the discount: if you don't get the email, you probably still get the discount. It certainly knocked a couple of hundred quid off my ticket.
Dear old BA runs frequent sales where it's made clear which routes are targeted and when the lowest fares are available. If QR were to adopt marketing strategies with that level of transparency it could easily stimulate demand for, say, Frankfurt - rather than bamboozle the gullible into believing they can benefit from generous, soon-to-expire offers.
