Someone in this thread posted about this issue.
Hilton gift cards do not work at some Hiltons

It is because some hotels automatically take 15-20% of the gift card value for incidentals. It must be an automatic setting in the computer that some front desk agents don't know how to adjust. Buyer beware on these gift cards.
