The Cathay Pacific first class lounge at LHR was easily the highpoint of our LHR tour. It's located near the Qantas lounge which is convenient for lounge crawlers.

The desk staff in the lounge were very welcoming and recognized me each time I came back in from my wanders. The highlights of the first class lounge were some upgraded buffet and self serve drink options, the ala carte dining and tarmac views.

I had some wings and the very nice Saint Emilion to start followed by a tart.

When we arrived there were a few prime seating options available.

We wound up finding some nearby chairs with ottomans and ordered a few ala carte items. Player 2 ordered dim sum and I chose what turned out to be spectacularly fluffy bao bun.

By this time I was fairly full from various food and drink samples and took a short walk through the adjacent business class lounge. There was some overlap in the food options including wings and quiche.

While in this lounge, I was alerted by my American Airlines app that we were upgraded to business class! My sense was that passengers originally on Delta flights back to the US were re-booked onto our American flight. This trip coincided with that server system update debacle with Delta taking a little longer to recover than AA. When I had checked on Expert Flyer that morning, there were 28 seats available in business class and I assume we snagged a pair as an operational upgrade. As a data point, we were booked in premium economy and I have mid-tier platinum pro status. So feeling pretty good about the result, we next walked down to our gate for the fight back to JFK.
