I notice that you are AA Platinum. If you go with Star Alliance, won't you be missing out on all the elite bonuses and lounge access? I assume you don't have Star Alliance Gold status. Are you sure you want to give up lounge access while traveling round the world in economy class?

Also, you may also want to keep in mind that you can earn full mileage flying from Asia to Europe on Finnair. Just a suggestion....
