It varies a lot hotel to hotel. I typically get about .008 - .01 cents per point when redeeming Marriott points (keep in mind you dont get rewards point redemptions, so there is some cost benefit analysis to do). If you value them at .008 and you are getting 1.7*.008=.0136.
Thats not a terrible redemption, but transferring to Hyatt will likely get you more. However I happen to be low on Marriott points and need some, so I plan on transferring about 150-200 of my chase points, because I often dont stay at Hyatt due to lack of availability where I travel.
