Recently completed a 3 day midweek stay. Booked the cheapest Bronze room on cash, was eventually upgraded to a Gold Suite as a glob. The regular check in clerk at first just put me into a “better view” room, but upon speaking to a manager (who was much more professional and forthcoming), turned out a gold suite was available but still occupied by another glob with a late checkout. So I waited a bit at the rooftop bar while it was freed up and cleaned.
Just for fun, I asked about the Sun Suite. Was told that is available as a paid upgrade for $175 per night.
As others mentioned, the Gold Suite is not a suite, just a slightly larger room. Considering how small it still was, I sure was glad I didn’t get stuck with the base room. The room is quite worn, but clean. Quirky design is cute, if you’re into that sort of thing. I felt it fit the South Beach vibe.
The bathroom and shower are very not private, in that the doors are glass (partially frosted), and the shower stall shares a glass wall (partially frosted) with a sort of entry hall of the room. If one person is in the shower and the other person opens the main door into the room - you can see from outside and into the shower. Boggles my mind.
The breakfast at Naked Taco was serviceable. Honestly, I feel like as a glob getting a filling breakfast and such a prime beach location, this hotel is hard to beat for the price.
FWIW, my breakfast vouchers said breakfast is served between 7:30 am and 2 pm on weekdays, and all the way to 4 pm on weekends. I never came there before 9 am, as someone who likes a late breakfast, this was kind of cool.
