Mercure Angers Lac de Maine (France)

Name of the hotel: Mercure Angers Lac de Maine (France)

- What is your ALL status? Diamond

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? OK

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive ? I booked a classic room and was upgraded to Privilege room. Basically, it’s the same room with extra amenities like Nespresso machine, bathrobe and slippers.

- How are the rooms? typical French Mercure. Medium size. It makes the job for one night as a halt during a road trip.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
  • very nice staff at front desk and restaurant
  • Low price
  • Excellent burger at the restaurant.
Bad:
  • hotel is undergoing complete renovation. As usual, you are not informed and you discover this when you arrive. In practice, the entire lobby is in construction mode and a temporary lobby has been set up in a meeting room. Same for the restaurant and they operate under a restricted menu. Renovation work (and related noise) is from 9 am to 5 pm.
  • The hotel is in a commercial area outside of Angers town, not far from expressway, so not a very appealing zone but it’s convenient if you want to avoid to enter the city.
  • They charge you 5€ for outdoor parking, while there’s no other way to come here.
- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? no lounge

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks : Welcome drink is valid for the usual stuff (I had a glass of wine). No welcome amenity as usual in France…

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? possible, in the same circumstance, especially after renovation.
