I created a bit of a mess trying to capitalize on the 30% amex MR to BA promo. I'm flying LAX-LHR in mid-June 2025, and I booked a BA business class award thru American Airlines for BA 268 LAX-LHR in business class on the a380. Price was 57500 AA miles + $750. I read about the bad seats and tired product, but AA has an easy/fully refundable cancellation policy so I decided to just book it. Price to select an upper deck seat would be $190

Then the 30% promo MR transfer promo came up. I booked BA 280 LAX-LHR in business class on a 789, not realizing that only the 788s have Club Suites. Then just for fun I clicked on "choose a seat," and saw that the config is 2x3x2, so not Club Suites. Oof... Price was 51000 points (plus 30% bonus from the promo) + $890

Any thoughts on which I should cancel? I don't have status with BA so the only way I could pick a seat would be by paying for it. I flew Club Suites LAX-LHR last month and it didn't matter that I didn't get a seat at t-24h because all the seats had aisle access. I typically get up 3-6 times (fewer if I don't drink, more if I do!) to use the lav during a long flight, so aisle access matters to me.

Seems like no 380s will be renovated in anytime soon, but with the $150 I save by canceling the 789 I could book a good seat. But the 789 could be swapped out for a renovated 788 or 777 since we're still a year out, right?

Thanks!
Only one 788 has been renovated so far, and in any case it is very unlikely that BA will deploy the 788 to LAX.
