This should have resulted in the bag being pulled at IAD sometime during the next 8 hours and handed off to the delivery service. Instead, it still got put on the evening IAD-BTV flight. At BTV, I tried to explain this to the UA agents, and asked that if possible, they put it on the BTV-IAD 7:39pm flight, as then we could just skip delivery altogether, and we could retrieve it at baggage claim at IAD. The agent never really understood; she did say she saw the delivery request in the system, and couldn't understand why the bag had been put on the flight to BTV to begin with. "You want it to go to Virginia, right? I'll radio the ramp and ask them to update the tag and have it sent back to IAD, but I'm not 100% it will make the flight." Fine, I said; if it went out on the early-a.m. flight BTV-IAD today, no big deal; I could wait for the delivery service.

So... the bag didn't make the flight last night. It went on the early morning BTV-IAD today. But... then UA put it back on the morning IAD-BTV, and as of right now, it's back in BTV yet again. Which is complete SMH for me; it's like literally no one has looked at the baggage notes. Meanwhile, UA emails me that they are "still trying to locate my bag." LOL; from the scans, they should know exactly where it is.

Eventually, I expect it will show up on my doorstep, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it do another round trip or two before someone at either IAD or BTV figures things out. Meanwhile, I bought a cheap bag at Walmart to carry the stuff I need to get back to IAD to begin with, and will submit the receipt over to UA to reimburse.
Exactly my experience. It's like the people doing the routing aren't reading the notes at all or, even worse, can't comprehend them. UA's baggage recovery system is a mess.
