AA First Class Award LAX-JFK on 777-300 Booked Into J
Here's a fun one for you AA experts out there: A few days ago I booked a ticket on AA3059 LAX-JFK in first class using AA miles. It was only 26,500 miles, a pretty good deal IMO even though the cabin is the old AA first class since this flight is on the 773 when every other flight that day is on their A321s. When I booked, the first class seat map was wide open and I chose seat 2A. Today, I checked the booking and most of the first class cabin is grayed out. My seat is still assigned 2A though. Even stranger, the ticket booked into J class, which from googling appears to be what business class AAnytime awards book into.
Has anyone experienced this and flown this flight? I'm wondering if:
1) AA will eventually pull my seat assignment from the first class cabin and reassign to the business cabin, in which case I should probably re-assign myself now to get a good seat in the otherwise empty biz cabin.
2) Any chance of accessing the first class lounge at LAX? Probably not since I assume the fare code is what matters and not that the ticket says "first".
3) If equipment swap occurs and they change the flight to A321, will I be in first class or in business because of the J class ticket?
Btw the ticket is still avail if anyone wants to grab a seat or just play around with it.
