Thanks for that. With Koru I can check an extra bag on NZ, so those 9 legs of our 8 week trip should be ok. It's the two legs to/from AYQ on JQ - now with an even lower weight limit - that are the (potential) monkey wrench. lol, maybe I'll mail a parcel of stuff we don't need at AYQ (the cool weather gear we needed on the South Island, and on the hike to Mt K from Thredbo) from Melbourne to Sydney - how are the Post rates? {joking - I think}
