This depends entirely on where you are going. Many parts of the country are not safe to travel in at the moment without extensive understanding of the local environment, but Yangon and Mandalay (for instance) remain reasonably safe as long as you aren't on the wrong side of the military regime or a specific target for PDFs. If you were, you wouldn't be asking about Myanmar on FT and would have your own local contacts.
UWSA-controlled territory is also reasonably safe.
I certainly wouldn't recommend Myanmar as a tourist destination right now, however, for many reasons — which is really sad, as it's a wonderful country. For anyone looking for a taste of Myanmar, there's a massive community in exile in Chiang Mai and many of the Thai border towns.
