It definitely does happen - For me when it matches the Member Rate it’s usually much much cheaper on some type of advance purchase rate, AAA rate or Hyatt Leverage Rate so I always triple check.

One downside to these rates is they won’t qualify for the Best Rate Guarantee if you ever do those keep that in mind.

I also have a stay booked for 2025 where the 3,000 point bonus rate per night was only $20 more per night so it was a no brainer to book. It definitely is rare though as it’s the only one I’ve personally used due to finding other better rate plans either Advance Purchase, AAA or Leverage.
