Just completed a quick stay here over the weekend and I'm happy to confirm that half of the rooms in one wing have now been renovated and brought into the inventory a month ago, while the other wing is now closed and already under the hammer. The plan remains to wrap all the room renos up by the end of the year.

Another update is an improvement to the Regency Club: breakfast remains the same extensive spread in Choices between 6 and 10:30 AM, but the evening offerings have been moved to Choices as well for a full dinner from 6:30 to 10:30 PM with complimentary access to the full buffet [western and Arabic salads, cheeses, grilled-to-order fish and meat, fresh pizza, international hot dishes, etc.] and free-pour red/white/sparkling wine and beer between 6:30 and 8:30 PM.

The renovations are great - the old product needed to go - but you can see that it was certainly cost-effective as the doors, A/C controls, bed skirts, artwork and hallway decorations have all been recycled. In any case, it feels like a modern Hyatt Regency should, the price is right, the staff are great, and between the very decent breakfast and generous evening offerings, this place truly is an innocuous little gem.
