I think it is unlikely to work with a status that is solely from the offer. Once you have your qualifying flights for the longer 'legitimate' status having passed the 'challenge' I expect some folks will have more luck. No garauntees that you will be able to status march from SK to LH after 1st September though, and I'm not going to qualify before that. But I would be interested to hear datapoints.
I won't do a match until 2026 at the earliest anyway as I don't fly enough to benefit from status in multiple airlines at the same time and they usually deny you a future match if you have had one in the past.
