The new Delta LAX headhouse is closer to its old T2 terminal, which is east of the below map direction in yellow, and hence my (earlier) suggestion of using East Way.

That said, as long as direction is correct, east/south, it does not matter how getting there, whether via east or west way, or even taking the theme building scenic route

By the way, these walkways are generally seldomly used, so foot traffic should be very light.
