The app is actually quite good. It will notify you of your gate, when your flight starts boarding, live boarding data (i.e. how many % have boarded your flight) etc.
You can change your seat after checking in and getting your boarding pass too - as SAS Gold I even (almost) always get a seat block next to me unless the flight is full.
On board experience is a different matter - and wifi is often not installed on the LHR aircraft and even if installed is often not turned on anyway.
