Thank you, everyone, so far, for all the advice. And yeah, I could have worded it a bit better. My flight was booked in January, and my return trip is the 29th of July. When I thought about the post, it sounded much better in my head.

The booking is through Iberia. They had the better price at the time of the listing, and I have my FF with them, so they are usually nicer with dedicated FF phone numbers for support. I tried re-routing this a couple of times with Iberia, and they keep saying that AA tells them 46 minutes is enough and that they can't change the flight.
The change was done recently to the original schedule (they also moved the CLT>MAD flight to 16:00 when it was 16:15 originally), so I have been in a bit of a back-and-forth situation with them, trying to avoid this short one.

I will keep trying to see if I can find a better route without having to pay for it.
