The neighborhood is a little rough at night. Its alright to walk south towards Russell Sq. but I felt uncomfortable walking north towards the station. I thought there was a bit of a rough element around the station, especially east of the station.
We were looking at this property for an upcoming stay with a child along. Although the hotel confirmed they had rooms that could accommodate a family (despite what the Hilton website says), a friend in London confirmed the above quote. We will be staying elsewhere this time, but the rates seem attractive enough to give it a try on a business or other non-family trip.
