Most Xiaomi phones will not work well in the US. They are not approved for VoLTE on AT&T, so pretty much simply won't work there, at least for voice. Verizon used to be the same, but I'm not sure if they are as strict now days. It will work on T-Mobile, but for example the Xiaomi is missing band 71 which will hinder coverage for T-Mobile.
