Detailed review of my stay in July 2024

What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Inner Circle Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Premium Room and was upgraded to 1 King Regent Club Suite City View

How are the rooms?
Around 74sqm large.

Elegant contemporary design.
Living room with sofa, desk..

Bedroom with very comfortable bed.

Bathroom with bathtub and with separate walk-in shower.
Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle - Eau de Magnolia toiletries.
Dyson hairdryer

Washlets

Flat screen television set with very basic selection of international channels.

Dressing
Nespresso machine. Kettle.
Usb and power sockets next to the bed and desk.
Alarm clock with wireless charger.

Very quiet.

View over the city (and Pearl Tower in the bedroom)
Very efficient air conditioning despite high summer temperatures.

No Free PressReader

How is the exec. lounge?
Large atrium with seating area and bar.

Excellent breakfast with à la carte menu and buffet (omelette was delicious). Breakfast is also served at main restaurant.

Very good afternoon tea.

I didn’t try the evening option

Service is attentive.

What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
- Elegant décor and atmosphere
- Very good breakfast
- Superb indoor pool with a view and fitness centre
- Convenient from Pudong International Airport, and to visit Pudong Art Gallery and Shanghai Ycang Art Museum
- Free minibar including alcohol for the first round

- Club room comes with free cleaning of 3 pieces.
- Late check-out was offered until 3pm.

BAD
- Nothing

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Club? Would you return?
The hotel is comfortable and well located for visiting the Pudong area.
The club lounge is very pleasant.

The service is attentive. But as is often the case in China, the staff have very little knowledge of English, and are sometimes clumsy in their interactions.

In addition, the hotel suffers from basic maintenance problems: in the room, the television didn't work (a cable was faulty), as did the minibar: how could the staff not have checked these items?
Another point that shows how difficult staff are paying attention to detail: the fruit basket is served without a plate or cutlery.
