From what you’ve described, it sounds like AS may have released 1 U space at a time, which would result in the first solo pax being upgraded, and is the system operating normally.
#3 got a UG but #4 thru #6 were still on the list behind us. So someone either bought the UG (was $770 at last check) or tricked it. Lots of names further down the list disappeared/appeared while I was in the air on the previous flight.
