I’ve honestly never noticed before other than I am odd in that I prefer lights on on daytime flights but I recognise it is about the many not the few.

I like mood lighting though.

The other thing I have in mind is some people might live with unseen disabilities such as visual impairments, so may appreciate brighter settings. Also keep in mind it is cabin crew place of work and they are asked to ‘patrol’ cabins often with trays of drinks but also with hot drinks. Having pitch darkness is probably not the best idea either.
