I suffer light induced migraines, which leave me with a thumping head and as good as blind until I lie with my eyes closed in a dark room for a couple of hours. it normally happens when my pupils are adjusted to a darker environment and there is a brighter light in my field of vision. I know all the triggers and can take steps to avoid them. For instance, in a meeting room, I will always sit with my back to the windows. More so if it the room will be darkened for a presentation and it is bright outside.

I have skin in this game. With an aircraft cabin darkened post service, any open window blinds will most likely be a trigger. However, it is my problem. I don't complain. I don't ask people to close their blinds. I don't ask the crew to make an announcement. Instead, I adjust to the environment to get the light out of my field of vision. If that means putting an eye mask on, so be it. But, while I will not ask you to close your blind, I have no interest in leaving a blind open to avoid jet lag. I will invariably get some sleep on any flight - day or night. So while it may irritate you that I close my blind, consider that it is not that I want to ruin your flight or body clock.

As for cabin light, I find cabins too dark during daylight hours and too bright when supposedly darkened to promote a sleeping environment. The LED mood lighting is vastly perferable to the 'on or off' settings that used to exist in the past.
