If you buy a non-refundable ticket while logged in to your account for someone else using a credit card and later you or they cancel the trip, the e-credit will be in their name and cannot be transferred. If you are uncertain if this trip will happen, buy a refundable fare or use miles.
Not sure why logging in is relevant. If I buy a revenue ticket for someone else they get the ecredit. If I buy an award ticket for someone else the miles and taxes go back to me.
