While this is my first and probably last interaction with Capital One in terms of credit cards (I had their checking account back >10 years ago) my question is - does it worth for my wife try to apply to the card? Her score is even higher and she has a single credit card on her name that was not used >15 years.
Or better for her not to risk it and go towards Chase Ink Preferred/United route?
P.S. We have upcoming charge of about $4200 and that's why applying for a new card was considered as an option instad of paying it from a checking account.
Lack of a credit history is one reason to be declined.
You may have 5 credit cards, and maybe even pay of balances each month, although I suspect that they aren't large to begin with, but this doesn't really generate a credit history, paying off a car loan does.
And of course, your income and liabilities always gets thrown into the mix.
The simplest answer to your question about your wife is to have her apply and find out. A single credit inquiry isn't going to make a bit of difference in regards to her her apparently outstanding credit score and you will get your answer one way or the other.
