Status seems pretty useless without seat selection for whole party with status

Hi all! I was wondering what the take was on Spirit Silver/Gold status compared to other programs out there. I've earned Silver status and am on my way towards gold with a mix of credit card spend and flights. But other than having access to a human being when irrops happened (the Silver line has actually been very good) I'm not seeing a lot of value mostly because the benefits don't apply to anyone but myself on my itinerary. I get Spirit is an LCC and I would not necessarily expect them to extend baggage charge exceptions for my whole party. But I never selected seats on Spirit in the past when traveling with my kids and we've almost always been seated together so the inability to select seats for them as well as myself with Gold/Silver status really negates a lot of value and actually brings negative value to the program. I selected a seat for myself as a silver on my last flight and I had to call support to unselect it because my kids were not assigned seats next to me. Once unselected the system gave us 3 seats together. Status was a negative value proposition.

I know Spirit needs to make money but one of the biggest ways to do so is to get me to keep using my card which I really don't see the point of doing to get gold status if one of the biggest benefits, seat selection, only works for me and not for my whole party. I'm better off not using that benefit and just letting the system give me 3 seats together. Unless it changes with gold status?

Anyone else have thoughts on this?
