Not necessarily. AC and UA both use D gates now. And it's not much farther from D to G than it is from end of E or F to G.

Yes, but the point is the OP will have to go by Yankee Pier arriving at D, E, or F and there really not much distance/time difference between D arrival and end of F arrival (to get to Yankees Pier, being a common way point on way to G). Discussion is not about which terminal OP will depart from - that’s already known.
If I miss the connection, the next flight departs 12 hours later. I think indeed it might be too risky because my arrival will be the day later, and that might mess up my hotel reservation.
