This is clearly a “distance contract” covered by the European Consumer Rights Directive. Additional remedies - other than the full reimbursement mandated by the Directive -, such as dammages for incurred costs, are dependant on national law though.I certainly know of EU countries where a bad-faith breach of a hotel reservation contract would entitle the injured party to be made whole regarding additional reasonable expenses.
