I assume this was at a smaller outstation type of airport like a Santa Rosa, Eugene, Reno? If you arrived 10 minutes before Check in closes that's incredibly close especially with checked bags. You're not entitled to any compensation, not that you'd get any in the US but you could've checked in on the mobile app or at a kiosk you also could've just simply arrived earlier.
Agree I should have arrived earlier but I was still on time. I was checked in on the app. The issue is Alaska could not print the bag tags since they ran out of paper. This was at IAH. They had 2 bag tag kiosks, one of which was already out of paper. Eventually the second kiosk ran out as well and the agents were not able to print anything at the counter either. Just such an odd thing to cause me to miss a flight that I've never experienced before.
