Noticeable cost cutting on JAL flights
I’ve been lucky to have had a number of long haul flights recently on JAL in both Business and Premium Economy classes. I’ve been shocked at some of the bare bones cost cutting. This isn’t a whinge per se, more sharing observations
1. The Business Class amenity kit is one of the worst I’ve seen. What is the plastic phone holder thing ? Remember the days when there would be promotional beauty products in it ? Now it’s tissues.
2. Ex Sydney, I had an amazing steak meal, butter was present on the table setting but no bread or wine was offered during the meal.
3. Premium Economy to Paris, ex Haneda, a good meal is served one hour out then only a small meal two hours out of Paris. The ‘Tuna bread’ offered as a snack seemed cheap. On a 14-15 hour flight, JAL could do a lot better. What is weirder is they serve more substantial meals on the return flight, which is overnight.
Its not a make or break when choosing JAL or not, though it’s becoming more noticeable, particularly with the inconsistency across flights that seems to be occurring.
