Has anyone specifically flown out of Singapore Changi Airport hand carrying the aluminum tube of a vacuum cleaner like a Dyson (literally carry in hand), which is the part that connects the handheld motor to the cleaner head (the part that sucks dirt from the floor)?
I was going to take a flight and randomly decided to buy a Dyson vacuum cleaner to gift to someone where I'm going to. I didn't realize that the aluminum tube of a cordless vacuum cleaner is slightly longer than most suitcases, and would not fit except in large size suitcases.
I was thinking to carry the vacuum cleaner:
- Aluminum tube - carried in hand (with ends wrapped in plastic), put in overhead bin
- Battery - carried in hand carry luggage with laptop
- Motor and other attachments - in checked luggage
I was thinking this works because people hand carry small, light tubes on planes, such as posters and presentation materials.
Has anyone successfully done this flying out of Singapore Changi Airport and might this cause any issues?
