They are not one of the US Military Academies
Most do not joint a branch of the US military.
And many are not US citizens,

They are not active duty and should not qualify for boarding on UA.
I’ve heard a few variations on this subgroup theme. Once, a gate agent announced “uniformed,” which I’ve seldom seen; I’ve also heard the term “travel orders” added to the requirements.
