IIRC Genoa (Italy) has an airport with commercial flights.

MRS is the largest airport near NCE. It actually serves Aix-en-Provence too. There's lots of train service along the coast (Italian Rivera-FrenchRivera-Marseille),but MRS is some distance from both Marseille and Aix.

Avignon probably also has an airport with French domestic flights. It would have train service from both Marseille and Aix.
